About Postypographika

Postypographika was founded in 1996 by Fabio Doctorovich with the aim of using the World Wide Web as a publishing and distributing media and also to explore the artistic possibilities of the new medium which had just emerged. The site was maintained until 2007.
All published materials on the site were related to “non-linear poetry”, or what the founder tends to call “postypographic” poetry, id est, poetry which ruptures the left-to-right western reading convention. This broad area includes not only visual and digital poetry but also sound and performance poetry. Essays related to postypographic poetry were also published, as well as poetry especially written for the WWW. All those poems were written in old .html code, and the included sounds were recorded in formats not recognized by the standard decoders nowadays. Therefore, migration of these poems to the new site will take time, and adapting to the php code.
The site was bilingual (Spanish/English). Published authors were Ladislao Pablo Györi, Eduardo Kac, Clemente Padín and Harry Polkinhorn among others.
Postypographika had a size of more than 10 Mb distributed in 1500 files. It was visited by approximately 1000 readers per month.
The present blog will try to show a new Postypographika site, taking into account the changes that have occurred in web technology since 1996.
